From the heart of Atlanta comes Algiers- the experimental/ post-punk trio whose music is as complex and commanding as it is mesmerizing and masterful.
I was lucky enough to see Algiers late 2015 at a small club in Toronto where only a few monitors and the honour system separate you from the bands on stage. While most groups either treat their time performing like a dance-party or a day at the office, Algiers takes to the stage as though their marching in the streets.
I can count on one hand the times I’ve thrown my fist into the air, feeling as though it actually meant something.
Algiers is the chimney stack that stands tall after the rest of the house as burned to the ground.
